On July 26, 1990, Former President George Bush signed into law the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This expansive new civil rights law protects individuals who have either physical or mental disabilities from discrimination. Immigration
CMAA has been at the forefront of the immigration reform discussions for many months. CMAA has continued to partner with the many Associations who feel strongly about the threat to the work-force of our businesses. We have had numerous meetings with our peers and have continued to collectively push our elected officials in Congress to address this issue from the perspective of small business and of the many families who will be impacted by any legislation that may get passed. Our coalition represents millions of hourly workers and is strongly supported by the US Chamber and the Committee of 100. Music Licensing
Most clubs play music in their establishment for the enjoyment of their members. In the case of recorded music, the performance rights generally are owned by either the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP); Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI); or SESAC, Inc. In September of 2003, CMAA signed an Alliance with OSHA to promote safe and healthful working conditions for membership club employees.
